5/5/2007 Houston- A free musical showcase boasting several Broadway performers will be part of the 2007 Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month Festival May 6 in Houston, TX.

The 7:30 PM concert, entitled Opening Doors: Asian Americans on Broadway, will feature direction by Alan Muraoka and musical direction by Michael Patrick Walker. Those scheduled to perform include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee's Jose Llana, Rent's Telly Leung, Beauty and the Beast's Deborah Lew, The Music Man's Christine Toy Johnson and Pacific Overtures' Hazel Raymundo.

The day-long festival, which runs 2-9 PM, includes "thousands of people celebrating their culture and heritage! Immerse yourself in culture with food, arts & crafts tables, even calligraphers and origami artists while learning more about Asian/Pacific American organizations, social clubs, professional associations, social service agencies, and vendors. Enjoy children's activities with festival rides & games, Anime rooms, video games, and so much more. Observe Houston's finest martial artists groups demonstrating their techniques."

The Opening Doors concert will be held in the Miller Outdoor Theatre, Hermann Park, located at 100 Concert Drive in Houston, TX.
