officials say three new subway lines have opened in Beijing to ease
travel pressures put on the city by next month's
Beijing 2008 Olympics
Games.
An opening ceremony was held Saturday at Beitucheng Station, where two of the new lines, Line 10 and the Olympic Branch Line, intersect, the state-run Chinese news agency Xinhua reported. Among the guests, it said, were journalists and a small number of local residents who possessed intra-day tickets.
