Houston EV1.net Bowl
We’ve got two colliding firsts here: For the first time since the Houston Bowl kicked off five years ago, the college Bowl football game is scheduled for New Year’s Eve. This Houston Event is played at Reliant Stadium, in past years the Houston Bowl has been on dates between Dec. 27 and 30.What does this mean? In a word: P-A-R-T-Y.
“It’s going to be a big deal,” says John Zotos, owner of St. Pete’s Dancing Marlin, and a prime mover in Main Street event planning. “Each school will have a chance to come down and party with us.”
Zotos expects between 15,000 and 20,000 revelers on the streets. Those at the Big Apple Ball will most likely dress to the nines, drink champagne, dance to live music and celebrate their win… or drown the sorrow of their loss.
Sports have always had a special relationship with The Main Event!, as it served as party central when the Super Bowl came to Houston in 2004, and again that year with the MLB All-Star Game, in addition to the Big 12 Football Championship in early December 2005.
The Houston Bowl party should be something special. Now known as the EV1.net Houston Bowl, teams are matched between Big 12 and Southeastern Conference schools.
