approaches, the Aluminum Association says choosing green electronics is
a win for both consumers and the environment.
With the growth of “e-waste,” the issue is a significant one. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than 80 percent of the country’s electronic waste is landfilled, while only 18 percent is recycled. The landfilled e-waste in the United States can be interpreted into millions of tons of crude oil and other precious and non-renewable natural resource uses, hundreds of millions of tons of fresh water consumption, and billions of tons of wastes and emissions. A significant amount of landfill volume is from plastic cases of electronic products, which include many desktop and laptop computers.
