The Chinese characters for kung fu literally translate as “skill through hard work.” This is evident in the monks’ daily routine. The 20 members of the troupe have dedicated their lives to at least eight hours of training per day, in addition to farming, mediating and studying the scripture of Buddhism. The Shaolin monks have practiced this grueling regimen of kung fu training for over 1500 years. The troupe’s form of kung fu has been passed down from the Shaolin Temple through generations of masters and disciples.
The myriad kung fu styles performed by the members of the troupe represent the finest and most extraordinary feats of discipline, strength, and courage. Additionally, the troupe will combine mind-blowing chi kung, an ancient Chinese art of cultivating an individual’s energy, into their energetic performance. In China, Shaolin chi kung exercises have long been famous for their ability to enhance health and mental alertness. The Shaolin Kung Fu Spectacular is a stunning display of human prowess and the mysterious powers of chi kung. The performance will amaze adults and children of all ages.
