8/2/2011-- A franchise business seminar is planned for Saturday, August 6, 2011, at the International
Trade Center, 11110 Bellaire Blvd. in southwest Houston.

The seminar will be conducted by franchise business expert and entrepreneur, Tony Alvarez.
Mr. Alvarez is an award-winning franchisee who owned and operated 27 franchise restaurants including Little Caesars Pizza, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, On the Border Mexican Café as well as Burger King franchises. He is also a past District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Mr. Alvarez stresses that even though these are tough economic times, franchise businesses still offer the small businessman and businesswoman proven business models and opportunities that can often be better than starting a business “from scratch.”

“Everyone knows that the U.S. and global economies have not been the best for starting a new small business. But at the same time, there are franchise business opportunities out there that many people overlook. Having started and operated several franchise operations, I want to share with the folks who come to our seminars just exactly what it takes to become a franchisee. Once they realize it all comes down to matching your goals with the large number of franchises out there to choose from, and along with professional guidance, the sky really still is the limit!” Alvarez emphasized.

Topics to be covered at the Franchise Business Seminar include:
• Do You Have What It Takes To Be A Franchisee?
• How Do You Find The Right Franchise?
• Is There A Demand For Your Franchise And Its Products?
• The Franchise Business Plan

The U.S. is a leader in franchising innovations, a position it has held since the 1930s when it took the major form of fast-food restaurants, food inns and, slightly later, the motels during the first depression.

Franchising, the practice of using another firm's successful business model, is used in more than 70 industries that generates more than $1 trillion in U.S. sales annually. Franchised businesses operated 767,483 establishments in the United States in 2001, counting both establishments owned by franchisees and those owned by franchisors.

Franchise businesses are available in a wide range of industries from restaurants, gasoline stations, trucking stations, hotels, spas, hospitals and many more.

The franchise business seminar at ITC runs from 9am until 2 pm, Saturday, August 6th. The registration fee is $149 (regular seminar price is $195).

To register for the seminar, call Tony Alvarez at 210-544-7700, or Jennifer Lopez at 832-448-0190.
