Ways to Go Green

Go green essentially means to reduce, reuse, and recycle. There are ten ways to go green in your life.

1. Recycle newspaper
You can use newspaper and vinegar to clean the windows. You do not need to buy commercial window cleaner. You can challenge your kids to reuse newspaper in as many ways as possible.

2. Recycle bottles, cans, plastics and old clothing.
You can use old clothing and linens to make a quilt. You can recycle old towels and sheets as cleaning rags.
We can store small items with peanut butter jars. You can collect toilet paper rolls, shampoo bottles, tissue boxes, empty deodorant tubes and soap boxes for the recycle bin.

3. Make your own reusable grocery bags.
This allows you to go green by reducing your reliance on plastic bags.

4. Use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning.
It is better to use vinegar instead of chlorine bleach to wash the laundry. You can combine vinegar and baking soda for washing the drain. This combination can kill germs and get rid of bad odors. When you use baking soda to clean kitchen and bathroom, you do not need commercial cleaner. You go green and save money.

5. Car pool whenever possible. Walk whenever possible.

6. Use cold water for washing clothes.
Most fabric do not need hot water for washing. You can use cold water for washing clothes. You can let the sun dries the wet clothing.

7. Replace the lawn with a veggie garden.
Lawns require fertilizers, lots of water, and weed killers. You need to keep them mowed and trimmed. That is why it is better to replace the lawn with a vegetables plot. If you are willing to spend money and effort on your land, you might as well get tangible benefits from the land.

8. Create a compost.
Creating a compost with worms allows you to reduce the need for commercial fertilizers. You can create a compost from used ground coffee, banana skin, used tea bag, watermelon skin, and other waste from your food.

9. Reuse rainwater and waste water.
Collecting rainwater to water the gardens is one way to go green. You can collect water from the washing machine to wash your car.

10. Collect the flyers and junk mail. You can use the flyers and junk mails to write notes. You can even use them for your printer. You can recycle the flyers and junk mails once you are done with them.
