9/29/2009 Houston, TX – The 13th Annual Bayou City Art Festival Downtown won’t miss a beat with 15 multicultural musical and dance groups, plus its first-ever culinary arts
presentations, to showcase continuous entertainment October 10-11, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Such diverse performing artists as Del Espadin Baile Espanol Spanish dancers, Tropical Rhythms
Hawaiian dance, MECA Mariachis and Houston Young Artists, are among the performers to join more than 300 fine visual artists at the nationally ranked juried fine art festival.
Bayou City Art Festival Downtown will be located on Walker, Bagby and McKinney Streets -- in and around City Hall’s Hermann Square and Reflection Pool, Sam Houston Park
and Houston Downtown Public Library Plaza, home of the Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) Stage, where performances will be showcased every hour on the hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

CORE Performance Company’s “Cardinal Pointe,” a site-based piece, will begin at the Houston Public Library Downtown Plaza, then move to the Hermann Square Reflection Pool, challenging the space with their detail and emotion.

For the fall debut of the “Epicurean Adventure presented by Houstonian Lite Health Club,” chefs from Max’s Wine Dive, Le Mistral, Artista, Chez Roux, Essence and YO! Sushi will conduct free 45-minute cooking demonstrations in Sam Houston Park. Seating will be first-come, first-served. Entry to the Epicurean Adventure is $10 and includes tastings of five wine varieties of U.S., Chilean, Italian and Argentinian wines and wine seminars.

Creative Zone at the Houston Public Library Downtown Plaza, where children and their families creating their own art works together to take home. Art projects include: ECO-Wear
(turn bicycle tires and other recycled materials into jewelry); Pocket Journals; Mexican Free- Tailed Bat Masks; Terrific Tree Prints inspired by Rembrandt’s tree and nature prints;
Spangles that Dangle; Corn Husk Dolls; Faux Stained Glass; Sun Photos; Milagros: Mexican Tin-smithing; Ornamental Rocks; Mosaic Frames; and Mini Art Cars.

Bayou City Art Festival showcases works representing 19 media formats: clay, drawing/pastel, fiber/textiles, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor and wood. Visual artists Solomon Kane, Sisters House of Jewelry and Karine Parker-Lemoyne will demonstrate their artwork 10 a.m. -
6 p.m. daily in Sam Houston Park.

Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
