10/14/2009 Houston, Texas – Beautiful costumes, cultural music, pink fire trucks and fun are all part of this year’s 6th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta.

The Regatta, which takes place during the weekend of October 17-18, is being held at Brook’s Lake at Fluor Corp., in Sugar Land and includes myriads of Asian cultural performances.
The Lion Dance by Lee’s Golden Lion Dance Troupe will start each day during the Opening Ceremony follow by fantastic performances including: Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko (RMD Group of Texas) will perform “Eisa,” an Okinawan traditional drumming dance. Anjali Center for Performers, Keiki Tropical Rhythms, martial arts demo from the Martial Art Fitness Academy, kung fu by the American Shaolin King Fu, bellydance by Amira-Tanya & “Amira’s Oasis”, dragon dance by CTC Lion Dance Association, and World Yuanji Dance Association.

On Saturday, the Pink Ribbon Tour will bring 2 of their pink fire trucks, escorted by the Harley’s Angels Women’s Group, to promote breast cancer awareness month. The Breast Cancer Survivor Ceremony will take place on both days to remember those that have lost their lives to breast cancer.

Throughout the weekend, TDBA will have exciting prizes raffled off to fundraise for the boat house in Sugar Land. Special thank you to the Houston Aeros, Houston Dynamos, Houston Rockets, Houston Texans, California Pizza Kitchen, and CAP Barbell Inc.
There will also be a Kids Zone set up featuring arts and crafts, moonwalk, simple games and a bubble zone designed for the young and “young at heart”. This Fall, kids will enjoy fun activities with the Houston Rockets, Houston Dynamos, and the Houston Aeros. Projects are aimed for children ages 4 and up.
