5/25/2007 HOUSTON - The annual
Memorial Day service will be held in Houston next Monday at 5 p.m. Guests are
invited to Joel Pinson Square and will be greeted by patriotic music performed
by the Houston High School band. The288th Sapper Company will present the colors
and the invocation will be given by Bro. Jonathan Childress of Arbor Grove
Baptist Church.
Rex Sanderson will serve as Master of Ceremonies and Col. Gary E. Huffman will
deliver an address.
Huffman currently serves as Operations Branch Chief for the Joint Force
Headquarters of the Mississippi National Guard in Jackson and is the former
Commander of the 2-114 FA, Mississippi Army National Guard in Starkville.
He is a native of Chickasaw County and a graduate of Houston High School.
Huffman has received numerous badges and decorations for his service to his
country.
Following the address, the HHS band will conclude the ceremony with “Taps.”
All military persons, active or inactive, family members or other interested
persons are invited to participate in the Memorial Day observance.
