Houston Community News >> Jury and Judge Deliberating Case against Ken Lay

5/24/2006 Houston (AP)-- Houston based Enron founder Kenneth Lay is now awaiting the outcome of two criminal cases. Jurors in Houston have returned for a fifth day to deliberate fraud and conspiracy charges against Lay and former Enron chief executive Jeffrey Skilling.

Jurors sent a note to the judge yesterday stating they don't intend to deliberate Friday or on the Memorial Day holiday. Meanwhile, federal Judge Sim Lake is considering evidence against Lay after a three-day trial in which Lay was accused of bank fraud.

Lake heard the bank fraud case without a jury. He has said he won't announce his verdict until the eight-woman, four-man panel in the main case delivers its decision.
