1/18/2011-- The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, will
present the third annual Booker-Lowe Lecture. Peter Held, renowned
ceramics curator and author, will present Rolling in the Mud: Forty
Years of Ceramics. Held has curated over 100 exhibitions, including six
national traveling ceramic shows; has authored numerous articles on
contemporary art and crafts; and is the editor and essayist of seven
books. For eight years, Held has been Curator of Ceramics at the
Ceramics Research Center, part of the ASU Art Museum at Arizona State
University, Tempe, Arizona. He also has served as a trustee for the
American Craft Council and NCECA. The ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research
Center and Peter Held are recipients of the 2007 CLAY Award (Ceramic
Lifetime Achievement Award), from the Friends of Contemporary Ceramics,
the leading organization of ceramic collectors, art dealers and curators
in the United States. The award is given for lifetime achievement in
advancing the field.
The lecture is free and open to the public. A reception to meet the speaker follows the lecture.
