rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the
Beijing 2008 Olympics
has brought reactions of disappointment and anger from Games officials
who had tried to keep the show secret.
The sneak preview, caught by a Seoul Broadcasting System employee, shows a giant Chinese scroll painting unfurling, revealing a lone gymnast. There is a thunder of drums and two giant puppets of humpback whales swim near the top of the monumental Bird's Nest stadium while hundreds of martial arts practitioners go through their routines on the field, according to an account in Australia's Fairfax newspapers.
