8/17/2006 -- Workers on a construction site for the Neihu Line of Taipei's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system found another unexploded bomb yesterday, the second one in a week. Police said workers found the giant bomb while digging a passageway between the Songshan Airport and the Songshan MRT station, prompting police to seal off the area.

A member of the bomb squad said the bomb could have been dropped by a US plane during World War II and had probably been buried for more than 50 years, given the corrosion on the surface of the bomb. There was no danger of the bomb accidentally exploding, the bomb expert added. The 225kg bomb was only a dozen or so meters from one that was found last Friday. Construction workers discovered the first Word War II-era US bomb in July 2004.
