president Chen Shui-bian, who has been on a hunger strike at the Taipei
detention house for five days, was taken to Far Eastern Memorial
Hospital for treatment yesterday (November 16). Under custody since
Tuesday on charges of forgery, corruption and money laundering, Chen
began his fasting at once to showcase his innocence and political
persecution against him.
