park is the first public park built in the city of Houston. It was given to the
city in 1914 by George Hermann. At the park you will find picnic areas, running
trails, dog areas and more. It is a special place enjoyed by both tourists and
Houston residents alike. So what is there specifically to do in Hermann park.
One place to go in the park is McGovern Lake. McGovern Lake is an eight acre
lake with two islands which host migratory birds. Visitors can rent paddle boats
and kids and seniors can fish from Bob's Fishing Pier.
Do you have kids? If so you can take them to the Hermann Park Train. The train
runs from 10 to 5 and costs only 2.25 to ride.
Perhaps one of the best places to go in the park is the Houston Zoo. The zoo
occupies 55 acres of the park and is home to over 800 species of animals. See
hundreds of hands on and visual exhibits that will totally immerse you in the
natural world.
If you are lucky you could also see a show at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in the
park. Lay on the grassy greens and watch live music or performance artists. To
