Seattle 5th Avenue TheatreSeattle's premier musical theater showplace, The 5th Avenue Theatre, opened in 1926 as a venue for vaudeville. The theatre's Chinese-inspired design represented a significant diversion from the prevailing French, Spanish and Italian-inspired influences of the period. Under the precise supervision of architect Robert C. Reamer, the interior was modeled after three of ancient Imperial China's most stunning architectural achievements: the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heavenly Peace and the Summer Palace.
