The Scene
When you come to
Hunan Plus Chinese restaurant, you are looking for
delicious food at an extremely low price. The restaurant
decor in and out will not blow you away, but the prices
here will.
The Food
Their weekday
lunch special is $3.25 and comes with soup,
egg roll, fried rice and your choice of main
dish.) The food portions are huge and the tastes
absolutely wonderful! And yes, this is probably
going to be two meals for most people (to-go box
will be necessary).
Heads Up
Located in
Diho Square next to Shanghai Restaurant, weekend
parking will be hard to find.

This is awesome food. It is So fresh and
you can't beat the prices. We have been going there for years and we have never
gotten sick. The waiters are great. Service is good but if you are looking for
fancy this is not the place for you.

Our family loves this place. The onion
pancake and sweet and sour chicken are the best.

Hunan's is nothing to sniff at. Fantastic
prices and delicious food (Gigantic portions! Make no mistake, the average diner
will need a takeout box, as mentioned below) make it a great hangout. Don't
expect five-star decor; it's the food that makes the place. Furthermore, I've
been going for years and have never gotten sick from any of their food, as is
unfortunately common with many Asian food restaurants of the same caliber.
Absolutely a staple for anyone living or working in the area. You will want to
bring friends and family - just make sure to come hungry. In one sentence,
Hunan's is a definite must for anyone craving fantastic Chinese food on a
budget.

Nothing beats the price here. They aren't
as good as they used to be (chef change?) but they are still pretty good when
you're hungry and don't have a lot of money to spend.

I have not gone back to Hunan plus for
over 1.5 years due to the fact I got SEVERE food poisoning after eating the
broccoli beef lunch special.
I was eating lunch at my workplace when I began to get very sleepy and dizzy. I
actually took a nap at work to shake it off. When I woke up I never felt so bad
before. I ended up sick for 4 days. I had to use the restroom seriously 10 times
a day and could not return to work. I couldn't even get out of bed.
The food WAS good but I'm never going back. They need to clean that place up
anyways. I was one of the first people to review Hunan Plus on this website
(look for "Chris" here)

I read about this restaurant in this
review, all of them are good. My family came to this restaurant last Friday
afternoon. The restaurant was half full. We ordered 8 dishes, all of them are so
bad, we were so disappointed. This restaurant is the worse one we ever been. We
don't know how can they survived in a competitive area like Chinatown? All the
food we ordered left almost full, we don't even want to bring home for our dog.

Whenever we're hungry, Hunan Plus comes to
mind first. I think my cholesterol will be through the roof since I eat there at
least 2 times a week. They should open one in Sugar Land.

CHEAP! HOT! AND GOOD! Their beef noodle soup is as close as you will get to
heaven on a cold winter day. Don't look for decor (or clean cups) but the tea is
hot enough to kill any germs. I come here almost weekly. Excellent
establishment.

Hunan Plus has been part of my life for years!
When we used to live in the Sharpstown area we
would eat there at least twice a week! They have
the best lunch specials in town and they give
you so much food you are rolling out of there!
The lunch specials are about $3 and that
includes all the soup you can scarf down!!
My wife and I work in the Galleria area and now
that we live in Sugar Land we still find
ourselves picking food up at least once a week.
Lisa, the owner's daughter knows us by name and
she has always been very pleasant and nice to us
over the years!
This place gets so busy that I often wonder why
they don't expand to a bigger location! Maybe
they will one day. I keep hinting to Lisa that
she needs to open up a location in Sugar Land!
What makes their place so unique is that the
food is always served fresh and piping hot and
the prices are absolutely the best in town for
Chinese food. So don't waste your hard earned
money on those uppity Chinese restaurants in the
higher rent parts of town. If you just like to
eat and get a real feel for Chinese culture.
check this place out and enjoy a culinary
experience that you'll never forget!

This place is the equivalent of a
Tony Jaa movie. You get EVERY thing that is awesome (great prices, great food)
along with a lot of unnecessary perks such as soup and free iced tea.
I've been going for about a year and a half. Surely you must think I've turned
into a fat lard by eating this food. No, I've actually lost weight. It is crazy.
This place is soo good and scrumptious that makes me want to gift wrap a box of
kittens and put a nice bowtie on top then proceed to hug said box of kittens.
It's great! Definitely recommended for cheapos like me who see no point in
paying too much for too little. It should be the other way around. Paying too
little for too much. After all, isn't that what America is about?
