Houston Community News >> Pompeii Tales of an Eruption At Museum of Fine Arts in Houston
1/9/2008 Houston —The Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston, will offer advance ticket sales beginning Monday, January 14,
for the international touring exhibition, Pompeii: Tales From an
Eruption. Opening to the public on Sunday, March 2 at the MFAH, its
final venue, the exhibition presents recent discoveries from the ancient
Roman city buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79. Among
the objects to be shown are sculptures, large-scale frescoes, jewelry,
tools, table silver, armor, coins, resin casts of skeletons, and plaster
casts of bodies, all of which reveal much about the people and how they
lived in the days of the early Roman Empire. The exhibition will be on
view through Sunday, June 22 in the museum’s Caroline Wiess Law
Building, 1001 Bissonnet Street.
Admission to the exhibition will require a timed-entry ticket. Ticket prices are $17 for adults; $13 for senior adults, students with ID, and children ages 6 to 18; and $7 for MFAH members. Children 5 and younger will be admitted free, but will need a ticket to enter the exhibition.
