2009 Dragon Boat Festival. 8:30am-4:30pm. Come out and root for your favorite team, which consists of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steersperson. Attendees are also entertained by a multitude of cultural and music performances and may sample diverse fare from local restaurateurs and other vendors. Da Camera of Houston - After Bach. 8pm. Felix Mendelssohn led the Bach revival of the 19th century that brought the Baroque master’s music into the concert repertoire. When the romantic composers discovered Bach, their own music was forever changed.Liszt’s powerful late masterpiece, Via Crucis, a unique religious work for solo piano and chorus, receives a rare performance. The Trilogy - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. 7:30pm. Theatre Under The Stars - RENT.  RENT is the classic musical about love, friendship and community, and the seventh longest-running show in Broadway history. Now, Over the course of its groundbreaking 12-year New York run, RENT transformed the definition of musical theater. Alley Theatre - Rock 'n' Roll.  Houston events at the Alley Theatre. It’s August 1968, and Russian tanks are rolling into Prague... Jan, the Czech student, lives for rock music, Max, the English professor, lives for Communism, and Esme, the flower child, is high. Where Clouds Disperse: Ink Paintings by Suh Se-ok.  Over his 40-year career, Suh Se-ok has incorporated his traditional training with his Modernist sensibility to create dynamic works that embody his artistic vision. He has been especially transfixed by the figurative form and has continually explored and perfected it until it evolved into powerful formal gestures of simple lines that comprise his definitive pictorial vocabulary.
