2009 Theta
Charity Antiques Show. Nov 19-22. In
the 57th year, the Theta Charity Antiques Show is considered one of the top
three antique shows in the country and the highest caliber show in the South.
Since its inception, the Theta Charity Antiques Show has donated over 5 million
dollars to educational, cultural arts, medical research, and community endeavors

Center Tree Lighting Ceremony. Nov 25, 11am.
A joyous, colorful festival held in the Grand Foyer. The highlight of the event
will occur when the Sugar Plum Fairy will illuminate 8,000 twinkling lights on
Wortham Theater Center’s twenty-five foot Christmas tree. The festivities will
include visits by costumed characters from Houston Ballet’s The Nutcracker,

HEB Holiday
Parade. Nov 26. Showcasing
celebrities, performers, and sports stars. Oversized Viareggio style, elaborate,
brightly animated floats featuring live entertainment. Giant helium-filled
balloons will soar in Houston's downtown skyscrapers. Over 5,000 thousands of
participants in marching bands will join drill teams, dancers, cheerleaders, and
clowns to complete this 58-year old tradition.
Uptown Tree
Lighting Ceremony. Nov 26. When half
a million holiday lights simultaneously illuminate 80 Christmas trees lining
Post Oak Boulevard, it signals the start of the season. Choirs, bands and a huge
fireworks show help stir up holiday spirit the evening of Thanksgiving. Houston

Annual Candlelight Tour - Christmas at Sam Houston Park Presented by Heritage

Houston s past comes alive as visitors stroll along paths lit by glowing
candlelight and experience a long-standing Houston tradition for holiday
gathering. Guests can tour the interiors of Houston s most historic structures,
each decorated to portray an era in Houston s history. Visitors will also be
able to enjoy historical re-enactments inside the historic structures. Along the
way, carolers will lift their voices in joyful song, and the sounds of music
will usher in the holiday spirit. Storytellers and crafters will take visitors
back in time as they experience how holidays were celebrated in the past. At
Santa s Workshop, children can have their photo taken while visiting with St.
Nicholas, send Santa a letter to the North Pole, engage in arts and crafts
activities, and play in the snow and build snowmen. Santa s Workshop will also
include staged performances by various musical and theatrical groups. In
addition, The Heritage Society Museum will present Spinning a Yarn: Houston
History Through Clothing, an exhibit featuring extravagant costumes and
accessories of the past.
Tickets are available for $10.00 (adults 19-64), $5.00 (students 13-18), $5.00
(children 6-12), $5.00 (seniors 65+), and children (5 and under) are free.
