Soc. For the Performing Arts - An Evening With Stephen Sondheim. During the live, unscripted conversation, Mr. Sondheim and former New York Times chief drama critic Frank Rich will reminisce about Stephen Sondheim’s career. Sondheim has not only collaborated on more than a dozen landmark shows and written countless standard songs but has also been the single most influential force in bringing the Broadway musical into the modern age. Star Wars in Concert. Narrated live by Anthony Daniels (the actor who portrayed C-3PO in all six films), the production features a full symphony orchestra and choir performing music from all six of John Williams’ epic Star Wars scores. The music will be accompanied by footage from the films displayed on a three-story-tall, high-definition LED super-screen – one of the largest ever put on tour. Houston event at the Toyota Center. Houston Grand Opera - The Elixir of Love.  This sparkling folktale is one of Donizetti’s most popular operas. Alley Theatre - Gruesome Playground Injuries. Gruesome Playground Injuries charts two lives, using scars, injuries and calamity as the mile markers. An imaginative tour de force for actors and audiences, the play explores why people hurt themselves to gain another's love, and the cumulative effect of such damage, of such demands. Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First Emperor. The Houston Museum of Natural Science is excited to present one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century, the tomb complex of China's First Emperor, Shi Huangdi, features thousands of terra cotta warriors that were intended to protect him throughout eternity. Where Clouds Disperse: Ink Paintings by Suh Se-ok.  Over his 40-year career, Suh Se-ok has incorporated his traditional training with his Modernist sensibility to create dynamic works that embody his artistic vision. He has been especially transfixed by the figurative form and has continually explored and perfected it until it evolved into powerful formal gestures of simple lines that comprise his definitive pictorial vocabulary.
