Da Camera of Houston - Juilliard String Quartet; Sarah Rothenberg, piano. 7:30pm. Da Camera kicks off a season-long exploration of Romanticism. The program features performances celebrating the 200th anniversary of the births of two geniuses, Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann. 30th Annual Festival Chicano. 7pm. A celebration of 30 years of Chicano music, from Tejano to Conjunto, to Mariachi and Orchestra in one of the oldest events of its type in the world. Chicano music has been historically shaped by many diverse styles such as Mexican rancheras, mariachi, big band, rhythm and blues, country, rock and roll and many others. Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First Emperor. The Houston Museum of Natural Science is excited to present one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century, the tomb complex of China's First Emperor, Shi Huangdi, features thousands of terra cotta warriors that were intended to protect him throughout eternity. Where Clouds Disperse: Ink Paintings by Suh Se-ok. Over his 40-year career, Suh Se-ok has incorporated his traditional training with his Modernist sensibility to create dynamic works that embody his artistic vision. He has been especially transfixed by the figurative form and has continually explored and perfected it until it evolved into powerful formal gestures of simple lines that comprise his definitive pictorial vocabulary.
