Bayou City Art Festival. Downtown Houston's premier outdoor festival showcases the works of more than 300 artists in 19 different media, including everything from glass and clay to furniture and jewelry. Treasures from Shanghai: 5,000 Years of Chinese Art and Culture. Featuring 77 sets of objects from the Neolithic period (circa 3,000 B.C.) to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911 A.D.), this incredible collection includes rare examples of oracle bones that represent the first form of Chinese writing, bronze vessels, polychrome potteries, sculptures, porcelains, paintings, jade/bamboo carvings and lacquer works. Lucy's Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia. Discover five million years of Ethipia's diverse history and culture. The exhibition will include the original fossilized remains of the 3.2 million-year-old hominid known as Lucy. The David Whiney Bequest. This exhibition celebrates the extraordinary bequest of works of art from the collection of David Whitney (1939–2005) to The Menil Collection.
