Dance Around the World.11am. This 50-minute program introduces families to classical and contemporary dances from various countries, including China. Marvelous China: A Multi-Art Show From China. 5pm. A five-hour, multi-art show that includes folk dance, traditional opera, acrobats, chorus, Asian musical instruments, Kung Fu, ethnic costume shows and much more. This cultural celebration begins at 10 a.m. in the Houston Garden Center International Sculpture Park with the official unveiling of the sculpture of Confucius, a gift to Houston from the People’s Republic of China. 15th Annual Weekend of Texas Contemporary Dance. 8pm. Houston's free dance festival returns to the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage with an engaging program of work by Houston's most dynamic choreographers and dancers. Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China's First Emperor. The Houston Museum of Natural Science is excited to present one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century, the tomb complex of China's First Emperor, Shi Huangdi, features thousands of terra cotta warriors that were intended to protect him throughout eternity. Where Clouds Disperse: Ink Paintings by Suh Se-ok. Over his 40-year career, Suh Se-ok has incorporated his traditional training with his Modernist sensibility to create dynamic works that embody his artistic vision. He has been especially transfixed by the figurative form and has continually explored and perfected it until it evolved into powerful formal gestures of simple lines that comprise his definitive pictorial vocabulary.
