Houston Ballet - The Merry Widow. When the dashing Count Danilo prepares to woo a wealthy widow, thereby securing her fortune and saving his country, he has no idea how beautiful she is nor that they have met before. High jinks, finance, illicit romance and political intrigue – this irresistibly charming ballet has it all. Houston events at the Wortham Center, 501 Texas. Call 713-522-5538 for more info. Stages Theatre - Souvenir. Comedy offers an affectionate portrait of Jenkins, a music-loving socialite whose charity concerts earned her a cult following in New York in the 1930s and '40s, culminating in a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall. Genuinely devoted to "her art," Jenkins was apparently oblivious to the appalling sounds she produced, and the fact that her "fans" attended for laughs, not musical excellence. Houston events at Stages Theatre, 3201 Allen Parkway. Call 713-527-0123 for more info. Event ID:9/30

Doubt: A Parable. Houston events at Alley Theatre. A stirring and provocative drama. Call 713-220-5700 for more tickets. Event ID:9/23

Stages Theatre - Late Nite Catechism. Sit up straight, spit out your gum and be quiet – or pay the price! This riotously funny international hit comedy takes audiences back to their school days with a show that’s part interactive catechism class, part stand-up comedy routine.
